PROGRESS IN MOVING TOWARDS OUR NEW RECTOR
May 29, 2008
The Applicant Review Committee completed it's site visits to the five applicants and determined the three final candidates whose names were presented to the Vestry on May 20th. The Vestry then met with Roger Cutler, Diocesan Consultant for the calling process, on May 22nd. Roger reviewed how to proceed at this point and calls were made that same night to schedule visits by these three candidates to meet with the Vestry individually the first two weeks of June. Following these visits, the Vestry will meet with the Bishop to choose and issue a call to one of the three candidates. To protect the candidates, their names and the Vestry discussions will be kept confidential. We continue a very prayer centered process to discern who God is calling to be Rector of our parish and who is responding to God's call.
"We are not "hiring" a minister who will "do ministry" in our name. Rather, we are inviting someone to come among us to lead us in worship and equip us for our ministries in the world. The process is less like employment, and more like getting married—finding out who each other is and forming a relationship based on mutual respect, trust, and a common vision of God's call on us as a community. And we trust God to know what is best for us, and to seek God's mind and heart, using our God-given faculties of perception, intuition, intellect and feeling." (Roger Cutler, Diocese of Northern California, Consultant for the Calling Process)
Please support the vestry and the candidates in prayer during these final crucial weeks!

The Applicant Review Committee (ARC) has been working very hard in finding the three best candidates who will be presented to the Vestry. Currently, the ARC is examining the last five candidates. ARC teams will be traveling to visit these five candidates throughout April and May. Once all visits have been completed, the ARC will meet to determine the three candidates to be considered by the Bishop and the Vestry.

The Applicant Review Committee is currently in the process of conducting telephone interviews with the eight applicants. Six interviews have
already been completed , one is scheduled for Tuesday evening, March 4th, and the last interview is planned for Noon on Saturday, March
8th, after which the committee will choose, if possible, which applicants will continue in the calling process. The following Tuesday evening, March 11th, we will meet with Roger Cutler to discuss the next step in the process - visitations. Meanwhile, the applicants who have been interviewed by telephone will be contacted as to whether they will continue in the process or not. This report will be updated after the Applicant Review Committee (ARC) meets with Roger Cutler.

Applicant Review Committee Report
The Applicant Review committee (ARC) has been meeting and has planned to meet most every Sunday, after church. The committee has received sample materials from Canon Britt, in the way of prayer material, sample questions, reference check material, and field interview questions. Subcommittees are currently reviewing all this material and will make any revisions which it feels will suit Christ Church the best. The ARC is using the Parish Profile and any guidance it can from our Vestry while making revisions to these documents. As you may know, Canon Britt will deliver the applicants' names and relative documents to the ARC on Sunday, Feb. 3rd. From there, the ARC plans to conduct telephone interviews to reduce the number of applicants down to six. Those six will be visited by ARC teams to witness the applicants' qualities in their current parish environment. Then, the six candidates will be reduced to three. Those three candidates will visit Christ Church and be screened by the Vestry for final selection. As you can see, this will take some time. All members of the ARC are extremely committed to finding the right person to lead us. We are reliant on prayer, the holy spirit, and the gifts God has given each of us to make this a success.
May God Bless Christ Church! (Hal Rosendahl, Chairperson, Applicant Review Committee)

Applicant Review Committee Report
Since the committee was formed, we have had one meeting
which was held on Wednesday, November 28th at 3:00 p.m. in
Lewis Hall when Roger Cutler was here. The following is a summary of that meeting:
1. Roger Cutler explained that Betty Burton can
not serve on the committee as she is an employee
of Christ Church. We will miss having Betty with us
but welcome first alternate, Marty VanZandt, who will now toserve in her place.
2. Roger Cutler reviewed the process from publishing
of the Christ Church Profile and the Rector position
posting via the Church Deployment Office website
to having a final list of candidates to present to the
Vestry.
3. The cut off date for applications to the position of
Rector of Christ Church is January 14, 2008.
4. The Rev. Canon Britt Olson (the new Canon to the
Ordinary for our Diocese - the position Bishop
Beisner used to hold under Bishop Lamb) will hand
deliver the applications to our committee the first
weekend in February 2008.
5. Our Applicant Review Committee chose, by unanimous vote, to have Hal Rosendahl as the chair of our committee and Robert (Bob)Rex volunteered,
with the approval of all present, to share some of the responsibilities and chair meetings when Hal is absent.
6. Hal has asked all those on the committee to supply
a list of dates when we are unavailable so a meeting schedule canbe established for the first quarter of 2008 - no easy feat withour group of active and
involved people!

October 14, 2007
The Vestry Selected the Applicant Review Committee and began notifying members of their selection.
October 7, 2007
Roger Cutler met with interested parishioners during the Forum in Lewis Hall to review the steps in The Calling Process. He also responded to questions and concerns.
October 6, 2007
The Vestry approved edits and additions to the first draft of the Parish Profile as requested by Bishop Beisner+. The revised draft will be forwarded again to the Office of the Bishop. The Bishop's official approval is necessary before appointment of the Applicant Review (AR) committee members by the Vestry . The Vestry approved consideration of potential rectors from throughout the United States, noting that the large majority of priests are located in the East. The Vestry has been gathering names of interested parishioners and those suggested to them for consideration for selection as AR committee members. This was included in the Chronicle , Sunday bulletins, and announcements. It is planned that 12 be appointed, with one or two being Vestry members. Official appointment will take place as soon as the Bishop gives the Vestry approval to do so. The newly-formed AR committee will then meet for training for the first time with Roger Cutler, Diocesan consultant for The Calling Process.
